What a Real Estate Agent can’t tell you…

As a Real Estate Agent we are held to a certain standard of professionalism. It is our job to try and help our clients to the fullest. However, our hands are tied when it comes to certain things.

I have been asked so many times about schools and demographics as a Real Estate Agent. I understand the importance of knowing this information, I am a mother and I have a family. So trust me I get it.

Due to the Fair Housing Act a Real Estate Agent can not divulge specific information. The Fair Housing Act was enacted in 1968 to eliminate housing discrimination. So when it comes to discussing schools, demographics, etc. A real estate agent will not discuss anything that could violate the Fair Housing Act.

I hope this helps you understand why we can not discuss or give certain information. It is in your best interest to research the area you are moving to. The Chamber of Commerce is always a good resource of information.

To understand more about this topic you can research Fair Housing Act of 1968.
